Most Frequent Questions & Answers
A Vodacom contract is a recurring monthly service agreement for mobile or home internet services, typically including a set amount of data, voice minutes, and SMSes, often bundled with a smartphone. Customers pay a fixed monthly fee for a predetermined period, usually 24 or 36 months, for which they receive the service and often finance a device.
Approval usually takes between 1min – 48 hours, depending on Vodacom’s credit vetting process. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
If your application is declined, we’ll let you know why (e.g., credit score issues). You may re-apply at a later stage or choose a prepaid option instead.
Anyone over the age of 18 with a valid South African ID or passport (for non-SA residents), proof of income, and proof of residence can apply. Approval is subject to a credit check.
- For Businesses (SMEs):Requirements include a registered business operating for at least 12 months and a monthly turnover of R40,000.
Yes, you can keep your existing mobile number with a new Vodacom contract by requesting to port your number when you switch to Vodacom. You’ll need to submit a porting request through Vodacom, which will involve getting your current provider to release the number so you can transfer it to the new Vodacom contract.
If you miss a Vodacom contract payment, your phone’s services will be suspended (soft-locked), and you’ll receive a notification to pay. You can resolve this by paying the missed amount or through services like a “promise to pay”. If you continue to default, Vodacom can terminate your contract and may charge a premature cancellation fee, but they may also convert your contract to prepaid after providing notice.
