One of the most popular messaging apps in the world has come a long way from its humble beginnings in 2009, when the app only had 250,000 active users, and the most recent figures, released in January last year, show 1.5 billion active monthly users. The mind boggles thinking of how many messages have been sent on WhatsApp since its conception.
Ever wondered how many WhatsApp messages you’ve sent to your contacts? There is a quick and easy hack that shows you the exact ranking of your chats in terms of how much content you’ve sent to other people and received from them.
How to see the number of messages you’ve sent
To find out who your WhatsApp bestie is, open WhatsApp on your smartphone, then tap on the settings tab. Tap on the “Data and Storage Usage” panel, and press “Storage Usage”, located at the very bottom of the menu.
You should now see a long list of chats, ordered from the chats that take up the most space, to the chats that take up the least storage space on your device.
You will also be able to see how many texts you’ve exchanged with particular people, along with the amount of storage space each chat takes up on your device.
WhatsApp was acquired by the social media behemoth Facebook in February 2014 at a price of US$19.3 billion, and now forms a part of the Facebook family of apps.
It was recently announced that Facebook was looking to start monetising the chat app, with plans to display ads on the app’s status page expected to be implemented from next year.
