If you haven’t yet caught the hint from the shiny decorations and the songs currently on every supermarket’s playlist: the festive season is upon us once more.
To celebrate this jolly old time of year, we’ve compiled a list of four festive and fun apps to keep you (and the kids) entertained this December.
1. Little Piano (iPhone) / Free Piano (Android)
If you fancy yourself a bit of a music buff, these apps for Android and Apple will be able to teach you a few of the most popular Christmas songs (together with many others) in a flash. The piano on the screen looks realistic, and the directions are easy to follow. We do advise using a pair of earphones while you’re learning how to play, though, or the family might never want to hear “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” ever again!
This app for Apple devices allows you to take pictures with the characters from this popular Dr Seuss Christmas tale, and to become the Grinch or his friends, Cindy-Lou Who and Max. Create fun and colourful cards to share on social media or to send along to your friends and family.
3. Naughty or Nice Photo Scanner
Let’s face it: your children probably take your phone more seriously than they take you. That’s exactly where the Naughty or Nice Photo Scanner comes in handy. Are they not listening to you, or are they refusing to do their chores? Simply scan their faces so “Santa and his elves” can determine whether they are being naughty or nice. Yes, it’s dishonest and it’s blackmail, but you’ll thank us when the charm of the December holidays has waned for your kids. It is available for Android and iOS.
4. Christmas RADIO
Over 80 radio stations dedicated to Christmas music can be streamed with the Christmas RADIO app. Whichever genre of music you prefer, you’ll be able to find it here. The app is available for Android and iOS.
