At Smartcom we are all a little obsessed with technology and gadgets. It shouldn’t come as any surprise, then, that Smartconians love themselves some geeky TV! We asked around the office and according to Smartcom staff, these are the TV shows that every tech-lover should watch.

1. Mr. Robot

Okay, so you knew this one would be on the list. Mr. Robot is the ultimate series about hacking. It follows the life of Elliot, a young programmer working as a cybersecurity engineer by day, and a hacker by night.

The British show, Black Mirror, follows the dark side of technology. Each episode features a brand new cast and depicts some extreme way in which technology has taken hold of humanity. This is definitely a must-watch show!

3. The IT Crowd

This is another cult-favourite of IT geeks. While the show might be a stereotypical portrayal of geeks and nerds, it is still hilarious. The show follows the antics of Moss and Roy, two IT professionals, and their new boss, Jen. Moss and Roy are extremely awkward and Jen… well, let’s just say she does not know what the internet is.

4. Silicon Valley

Another comedy straight from tech heaven. Silicon Valley is the story of a group of friends trying to make it big in a high tech world. This two-time Golden Globe nominated show should definitely be on your binge-watch list.

5. Halt and Catch Fire

With its 4th season on its way, this drama series has quickly captured the imagination of a devoted techy fan base. Halt and Catch Fire portrays the drama, ego and suspense during the computing boom of the 1980s.

6. CSI: Cyber

Sadly, this show did not make it past a second season. Nonetheless, if you are a fan of the crime investigation recipe of CSI you will most likely enjoy this high tech version of the franchise.

7. Scorpion

This show is loosely based on the life of the computer genius Walter O’Brien. Walter and a group of genius friends get recruited by the department of Homeland Security to help stop various threats to national (and sometimes global) security.

8. Chuck

Chuck is another geeky comedy with a massive following. The show ran from 2007 to 2012 and follows the life of computer geek, Chuck, who accidentally downloads critical government secrets into his brain.
